EL GUSTO

El Gusto, c’est l’histoire d’un groupe de musiciens juifs et musulmans, séparés par l’Histoire, et réunis après 50 ans sur scène pour partager leur passion commune : la musique Chaâbi.A l’instar des musiciens cubains du Buena Vista Social Club, l’orchestre El Gusto est à l’image du Maghreb. Chantre de la musique châabi, cette formation unique en son genre regroupe la fine fleur des chanteurs et musiciens maghrébins. Objet d’un documentaire à succès, le groupe célèbre par sa musique le temps où Juifs et Musulmans chantaient ensemble dans la Casbah d’Alger, il y a près d’un siècle.

El Gusto is the story of a Jewish and Muslim group of musicians, separated by history and reunited 50 years later on stage to share their common passion: Chaâbi music. Like Cuban musicians of the Buena Vista Social Club, the El Gusto orchestra is a reflection of the Maghreb. Poet of châabi music, this unique group brings together the fine flower of Maghreban singers and musicians. Subject of a successful documentary, the group is famous by its music from the time Jewish and Muslim sang together, in the Kasbah of Algiers, about a century ago.
