QAWWALI FLAMENCO

Du Pakistan à l’Andalousie, les musiques se sont croisées, rencontrées, nourries, et même si bien mélangées qu’entre la puissance volcanique et virtuose du chant qawwali et le lyrisme hypnotique du flamenco, les distances s'estompent et les similitudes s’imposent. A la suite d'une première rencontre il y a dix ans, Faiz Ali Faiz s'associe à nouveau aux rythmes et accords inimitables de Juan Gomez ‘Chicuelo’, le guitariste fétiche des grandes voix du flamenco. Avec un ensemble de musiciens spécialement réunis pour l’occasion, les deux artistes vont encore plus loin : la force écorchée vive du flamenco remonte aux sources et se fond dans la transe qawwali indo-pakistanaise.

From Pakistan to Andalusia, music has crossed, met, nourished and even amazingly blended that, between volcanic power and virtuous gawwali chants and hypnotic lyricism of flamenco, distances have vanished and similarities emerged. Following a first encounter ten years ago, Faiz Ali Faiz associates himself once again withinimitable rhythms and cords of Juan Gomez ‘Chicuelo,’ fetish guitarist of flamenco’s great voices. With an ensemble of musicians, especially united for this occasion, the two artists will go even further: the power skinned alive from flamenco goes back to the source and melts into Indo-Pakistani qawalli trance.
